Plabras claves: Huida, travesti, género, memorias reales o fi cticias, virgen guerrera, picaresca femenina.

ABSTRACT

Flight With A Tale, Without A Tale, And With Counts Of The Nun Lieutenant Catalina De Erauso (1585-1652).

The story of The Nun Lieutenant, Catalina de Erauso (1585-1652), written by herself, is marked by fl ight. At the age of fi fteen, she runs away from her convent of Saint-Sébastián. That fl ight triggers other fl ights throughout her life, dictated by urgency, and her need to remain unnoticed and protected. In a man’s disguise, for over twenty years she lives the picaresque life of a swordsman and brave military man in America. Sentenced to death, she owes her salvation to her ultimate confession of her sex and identity. Famous by then, she obtains a lifetime pension from the King, and the Papal authorization to keep wearing the man’s garments that earned her fame. This paper shows the results of a detailed literary study, within the frame of qualitative-nterpretive research, with a methodical analysis of qualitative data from discourse analysis models, and from historical-literary research.
