Resumen
Introducción: La Violencia de Pareja, como factor de riesgo poco explorado, puede interferir con el inicio y la continuidad de la Lactancia Materna y comprometer la salud del binomio madre-hijo. Su presencia desde el embarazo puede generar efectos adversos a largo plazo, por lo que la identificación temprana en el control prenatal es clave para iniciar acciones de intervención y control que prevengan dificultades en la lactancia materna. Objetivo: Asociar tipos de Violencia de pareja y Lactancia Materna en mujeres de Cartagena-Colombia Metodología: estudio analítico realizado en 355 mujeres. Se recolectaron variables sociodemográficas, los tipos de Violencia de Pareja, mediante la Escala de Violencia del Estudio Multipaís de la Organización Mundial de la Salud y la presencia de Lactancia Materna. Se realizó análisis descriptivo y bivariado mediante la prueba de χ². Se estimaron razones de prevalencia (RP) con sus respectivos intervalos de confianza del 95% (IC95%) mediante regresión de Poisson, en análisis uni y multivariado. Resultados: El 40,85 % de las mujeres reportó ofrecer lactancia materna y el 27,32 % refirió haber experimentado violencia de pareja. La ausencia de apoyo a la lactancia materna mostró una menor prevalencia en mujeres expuestas a violencia emocional (RP=1,85; IC95%:1,23-2,79; p=0,003) y violencia económica (RP=2,12; IC95%:1,01-4,50; p=0,049). Asimismo, una duración de la lactancia menor a 24 meses se asoció con violencia física (RP=7,84; IC95%:1,09-56,2; p=0,040). Las dificultades en el inicio de la lactancia presentaron una mayor prevalencia en mujeres expuestas a violencia sexual (RP=0,34; IC95%:0,15-0,79; p=0,013) y violencia económica (RP=1,05; IC95%:1,59-6,96; p<0,001). La violencia económica también se asoció con una mayor prevalencia de depresión posparto (RP=2,54; IC95%:1,27-5,10; p=0,008). Conclusión: Los distintos tipos de violencia de pareja se asociaron con una menor prevalencia de apoyo, así como con dificultades en el inicio y continuidad de la lactancia materna durante el primer mes posparto, lo que evidencia un efecto desfavorable sobre la lactancia materna en mujeres de Cartagena, Colombia.
