Resumen

Landfill leachate treatment is an environmental challenge due to its high organic load and recalcitrant compounds. This study assessed the efficiency of catalytic ozonation (OC) with magnetite (Fe₃O₄) for Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) removal using a Response Surface Methodology (RSM) model with Ridge regularization. The effects of ozone dosage, catalyst concentration, pH, and treatment time were analyzed in two distinct leachates.

The best results were achieved at pH 9, 2.5 g.L-1 of catalyst, and 120 min of contact time, with the maximum ozone dose (6 g.h-1). A nonlinear relationship was identified between ozone dosage and process efficiency. The predictive model remained stable under ±5% experimental variations, validating its applicability in real-world conditions. These findings confirm the potential of OC with magnetite as an effective strategy for landfill leachate treatment.
