Abstract
This work will analyse the spatial organization of native towns, their shelters and the territories within their ecclesiastical jurisdiction, as well as the articulation established between urban and rural areas, in order to demonstrate its relationship to the actual existence of residential segregation practices between natives and non natives.
The study of the spatial organization of native towns and their shelters, enhances thorough understanding of the economic importance of public lands in the shaping of conflict during colonial times, and the particular operating mechanisms used for domination and resistance
