Abstract
This article states that the concept of "Indigenous Communities" was coined during the colony, not as a simple continuation of the Incas' aylIus, but incorporating some of their traditional. In consequence, the understanding of their origin, their internal organization and their processes of transformation should be approached within the frame of the colonial system.
