Abstract

The main purpose of this article is to make a historiographical balance about the works that has been made about the Academies of History in the country, showing the little attention this academic tradition has received in Colombian universities. The balance is divided in four parts; each of them deals with some works about Colombian academies of History both in general historiography and in some research about these institutions that constructed the national past. Given the limited publications about this topic in our country, some Spanish woks are explored and suggested as relevant references for future research. This article is part of a broader study about the role played by the Centre of History of Santander in the construction of regional memory in this department.

Keywords: Academies of History, historiographical balance, writing of the past.
