Abstract

This study proposed a first overview of the Guatemala historiography of the last decade in which it is valued the presence of Regional History fieldwork in a development itinerary. From a revision of the majority of the written production on this thematic, it is suggested an explanation over the givens on this historiography work field under the comprehension of the ethnical and political identities without the ‘metropolitans’ views which are prevailed in the Guatemalan and Central American historiography. As well, it is valued the contribution provided thru this methodological work seen to the historic Guatemalan research to throw new questions and debates over the formation of the political and ethnical identities located in its own action range, dimensioned in the complexity of its formulation, and appropriation from the subjects and questioning without losing the sight of the social structures into which they are developed and daily transformed.
