Abstract
A kaolinitic clay was modified with salts and bases, to increase their capacity of adsorption of Cu and Zn presents in watery solution to concentration of 100 ppm. The study consisted of two stages: the modification of the clay and later adsorption of the metals. Modifying the clay to a relationship of 40g of clay natural/L of solution of NaOH or of KOH, during a time of 1 h, 25°C and pH of 4,5-5, was obtained an adsorption of 97% for the Cu and 94% for the Zn.
