Abstract
A study was carried out on the diffusion of a saturated solution of C02 into three different epoxic coatings: epoxyamine, epoxy-polyamide and epoxyphenolic-amine, applied over AIS11020 steel plates; moreover. it was studied the corrosión produced on the steel by the penetrants. The experiments were based in the appíication of the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) technique to the probes for several days, to evalúate the penetration of the electrolyte and its corrosión process; to get a better comprenhension of the problem, it was carried out a morphological study of the probes after they were exposed to the electrolyte. It was concluded that the barrier properties of the coatings against the electrolyte studied were affected by the increase of the temperature and they are higher in the following order: epoxy-polyamide < epoxyamine < epoxyphenolic-amine. Apparently, the system don't reach an equilibrium state with the formation of a protective oxide layer because of its destruction by accomplexation with carbonates disolving it.
