Abstract

Social Security in Colombia and the world goes back to political and social doctrines of law of both the State and the Catholic Church. It is only until the mid-twentieth century that Social Security takes on a universal regulatory body. It was in Europe, particularly in Germany that led to the Social Security policy to improve social and economic conditions of workers in enterprises. In France originated the policy of the Family Allowances, derived from Social Security. Social Security family benefits in Colombia acquired a body of law and institutional mid-twentieth century.
