Abstract

The studies of fault damage zone have great importance in the hydrocarbon migration and potentials aquifers, besides they serve to predict the stability of slopes in the feld of geotechnical studies. It is posible to obtain an appreciation about the complexity of a damage zone produced by faults, through a careful study of the structures in outcrops. These structures can be described in terms of Topography, Topology and Symmetry.

Numerous studies have been commonly slanted to normal faults and strike - slip faults, thus, the results here obtanied differ substantially in terms of orientation and style. The studied fault has a maximum displacement of about 16 m, approximated length of 400 m, and one damage zone of approximately 100 m in the hanging wall block.
