Abstract

Sands of the sediments from the lower level of Tierrabomba + 3m. beach are made up of organic fossil material and inorganic material. Variation of the small size faunal composition in the differents sand fractions is analysed, Fifty eight mollusca species are added to the former fauna. The C-14 analysis made on Codakia orbicularis specie gave a date of 2.850 ± 150 years B. P It indicates that this beach emerged during the Holocene. Comparison of this date with other ones, also given by the C-14 analysis on tests from cultural deposits in the Atlantic coast of Colombia suggests that the uplift of this region took place during human occupation or afterwards.
