Abstract

 

The facial photoarchitecture is a method that combine facies architecture and air photo interpretation concepts, applied to clastic sedimentary basins. This method define local photostratigraphic correlations with cronostratigraphic sense, based on the definition of shape hierarchies, relationship and rock aspects, necessaries for three dimensional reconstruction of geometries and sedimentary process occurs during the basin fill. Remote sensing information (Landsat TM, air photos, radar) as used for facial photoarchitecture methodology. Maps with vertical - lateral variations of stratigraphical units and type of boundaries (unconformities, gradual or net), result of the photostratigraphic analysis. The field control of maps result of photostratiographic analysis, and correlation with geophysical information (seismic reflection programs) produce more realistic maps and stratigraphic schemes.
