Abstract

The question about the conception of meaning (Bedeutung) in Kant's philosophy still deserves attention. This paper proposes the design for an answer to the question: What kind of theory of meaning had Kant? It suggests that this question should be approached from the context of the terminology, concepts and understanding horizon of the own Kantian philosophy. It analyzes the question in a central chapter of the critical philosophy: the Analytical of the Critique of Pure Reason, arguing that it is possible to identify a conception of meaning as the possible meaning of pure concepts. There it is possible to identify a threefold sense of meaning: lexical, logical and objective; being the notion of objective meaning the one what distinctively characterizes the transcendental perspective.
