The educational thought of the sophists

Abstract

This article approaches the sophist’s educational thought, in order to rescue his contribution to the education as discipline; it is to say, to the pedagogy. The sophistic paideia is outlined by the rhetorical teaching, which does emphasis on language, but the important thing of his educational conception is the purpose, which is the citizen’s political formation. Protagoras, who was an important sophist, taught and understood the paideia’s concept as intellectual and political formation.
