Abstract
This article of reflection makes an approach to the concept of identity from the way it is experienced in liquid modernity, a concept used by the philosopher and sociologist Zygmunt Bauman, to account for the cultural change that is being attended today. One of the main characteristics of this transformation is the rupture of the frames that contained the past experiences of the world and of self-understanding of the man in the solidity, to move to a liquid context, where liquefaction is one of its main characteristics. In addition, the shopping center was identified as the privileged place where current citizens attend, to build their identity, from the moment they feel excluded and forgotten. The commercial center as the new referent and the horizon of meaning that can be approached before the crisis of social institutions that do not contain the sense of identity.
