Abstract

This paper  shows  a  state-of-the-art  rewiew on  the Distribution Static Compensators used  for  the power quality improvement  in distribution systems. The review  includes:  the operation principle,  its basic operation modes,  its compensation options, the power converter structure and the main trends of its control strategies (generation of the reference signals, power converter control and  DC storage device control). The control strategies are emphasized due to the extensive research on this feld and their key role in the compensator performance.
