Abstract

Since 1968, studies have been conducted in the “Macizo Volcánico del Ruiz” that prove the great potential that exists in the region for the generation of electricity from geothermal energy. However, this development has not materialized yet. For this reason and with the aim of contributing to the development of geothermal energy in Colombia, the barriers that have been emerging in the implementation of the project were analyzed and to try to overcome some of these, a cascade development methodology was implemented based on a single producing well. The results showed that, with this new approach, the development of the field could be done in less time, with greater energy efficiency, adapting to the needs of the surrounding communities.
