Abstract
Through the development of an orthopedic aid that integrates the phases of Sprain type III for inversion treatment, this study seeks to motivate the injured person to complete the treatment and to prevent the relapse of the injurg.
In view that spraining the ankle is the most frequent trauma with a high percentage of relapse as a consequence of incomplete treatment due to patient desertion, the study seeks to integrate the different phases of rehabilitation treatment, in the designed device to minimize the atrophy produced by the immobilization of this joint and in that way providing the patient the necessary comfort to avoid the interruption of his daily activities.
To obtain these objectives, an investigation has been developed adapting aspects such as the ankle's anatomy and biomechanics, trauma pathology, its treatment and problems, as well as the analysis of its possible solutions. Based on these, some hypothetical solutions have been presented, which have been evaluated in accordance with previously outlined objectives to select and develop a proposal to build a functional model which has been tested by experimenting on patients and professionals in the orthopedic and physiotherapy sectors.
From this experiment it was concluded that it is possible to integrate the required elements of mobility and potential therapies, by giving incentives the patient anytime during the day there by reaching a complete evolution of its functional capacity.
