Abstract

This article reviews the state of the art of non-invasive methods for measuring glucose in the body by various types of near infrared spectroscopy.  First are some basic concepts related to glucose and spectroscopy, then, a summary of the proposed methods and techniques, reported in literature, used for: i) the application of spectroscopy, ii) the simulation of samples and, iii) analysis of results.  Finally, some of the proposals relate applied in vivo, grouped according to body region used for making spectral samples.
