Abstract

The concept of food security has been a subject of debate, particularly in the context of neoliberal discourse. In this line of thought,
organizations seeking solutions to the issue of hunger propose food sovereignty as an alternative more in line with the people´s right to decide about their own food. The aim of this article is to reflect on these two concepts in the pursuit of a common language that places the issue of hunger at the center of the debate. To address this matter, a qualitative methodology based on the review of reliable sources is employed. It is concluded that it is necessary to consider that both concepts should work in harmony to achieve their proposed goals and are not necessarily contradictory terms.
