Abstract
This paper attempts to include some contributions from Paul Schrader, american screenwriter and filmmaker, among which are: a) The script of Taxi Driver (directed by Martin Scorsese in 1976) and The Mosquito Coast (directed by Peter Weir in 1986); b) A sample of its impact as director in the 70's, 80's and 90's analyzing the following movies: Blue Collar (1978), Hardcore (1979), Cat people (1982), Mishima (Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters 1985), Light of Day (1987), The Comfort of Strangers (1990), Light Sleeper (1992) y Affliction (1997).
The present text inquire for the configuration of their characters, unconventional representations of cities, the relationship between individual and environment, and finally, aesthetic aspects of his work.
