Adaptação de consórcios microbianos nativos presentes em lodo de esgoto para acúmulo de polihidroxialcanoatos (PHA’s)

Resumo
Os polihidroxialcanoatos (PHA’s) são poliésteres naturais biodegradáveis e biocompatíveis sintetizados por uma ampla gama de bactérias como reserva de carbono e sua composição química varia de acordo com o substrato utilizado, a rota metabólica utilizada pelo microrganismo e a enzima PHA-sintase. Considerando os Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS), a economia circular e o reaproveitamento de águas residuais, o objetivo desta pesquisa é descrever, por meio da revisão da literatura científica, aspectos relacionados à adaptação e seleção de consórcios microbianos nativos que alcançam um elevado acúmulo de PHAs provenientes de lamas de estações de tratamento de águas residuais. A produção destes polímeros está condicionada à formulação do meio de cultura para favorecer o aumento da biomassa e posteriormente o seu acúmulo. Para isso, foram descritas estratégias de alimentação microbiana, começando com um meio enriquecido com nutrientes, seguido de uma fase de formação de produto em meio limitado, processo conhecido como festa e fome, que é uma estratégia utilizada atualmente. Consórcios microbianos mistos de estações de tratamento de águas residuais são promissores para produzir PHAs a partir de ácidos graxos voláteis usando a estratégia de festa e fome.
