Abstract
This article presents a method that allows to reduce the losses of active power of the system and to improve the quality of the electrical energy service by locating and optimizing the dimensioning of passive filters in distribution systems in the presence of harmonics. This includes the feasibility of using the capacitor for compensation. The analysis is based on existing mathematical models to represent each of the components of the system and the discrete character in the choice of filter type is considered.
