The park as a space for the construction of identity in the Bosa Recreo neighborhood

Abstract

This paper aims to establish the social relations that arise in the neighborhood “Bosa Recreo” (Bogota, Colombia) after the construction of a park as a recreational space and also to highlight the cultural dynamics that emerge around itself and that helps in the development of different identities on a local level; all of them embedded in a defined geographical space.I am interested in describing the relationship between the park and the everyday life of the residents of the neighborhood, considering those who frequent this place and their motivations for doing so; according to social, cultural and economic factors that make different perceptions of the inhabited area, generating emotional bonds with the territory and with the other members of the community who are influenced by the public space.For historiography, it is important to reclaim local relations and individual and subjectized narratives, in order to include oral history as a necessary narrative in the development of a new history that is less exclusive and that imposes micro-stories on the national academic debate, and neighborhood histories as a research route. The transversal axis is the park as a meeting place, of construction and consolidation of cultural imaginaries, the park as a space of memory, and as a protagonist in the daily history of the inhabitants of the sector
