Abstract
Romanticism and realism of the nineteenth century were two literary currents that were characterized by inspiration from the landscapes and customs surrounding the perpetrators of this century. Carrasquilla Tomas was one of the exponents of realism in Colombia. Through their lines we can study the social, political and cultural aspects of nineteenth Medellin. This opens the door to that literature is considered a source of historical research, as a writer of his surroundings, the context in which they lived. On the other hand, the marriage between literature and food culture enable us to understand the habits and behaviors around the table, which has a given society.
