1. Focus and Scope
Médicas UIS, the journal supported by the Medical Students of the Industrial University of Santander, aims to disseminate scientific production and train its readers in the various fields of biomedical knowledge. Médicas UIS is aimed at undergraduate and graduate medical students, general practitioners and specialists who want to receive a wide range of topics distributed in the various sections of the publication. The articles are written and evaluated by highly qualified scientists on the subject according to the criteria of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors. Our field of coverage includes the different cities of the country and Latin America, reaching scientific societies, research groups, biomedical journals, universities, hospitals, clinics, libraries, among others, making it possible to carry out our work of disseminating scientific knowledge. Médicas UIS is edited and printed in Bucaramanga, Santander department, Colombia.
1. Mission and vision
As a fundamental part of the organization of the magazine it is necessary to remember the mission and vision of the magazine that frame its purpose.
Médicas UIS, is a journal with quarterly publication, in electronic and printed format, open access, with Spanish-American coverage, aimed at students, professionals and specialists in the area of human health. The journal considers the publication of original articles, review articles, case reports articles, among other short communications; previously evaluated through a rigorous editorial process, which includes the evaluation by suitable peers, in order to meet the criteria of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors to obtain a document of literary and scientific quality.
With thirty years of experience, with the support of medical students of the Industrial University of Santander in its edition and direction, the magazine has more than ninety published copies. It is indexed in Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO Colombia), in the Latin American Literature Index in Health Sciences (LILACS), Ibero-American Network of Innovation and Scientific Knowledge (REDIB), Index of Latin American Journals in Sciences(Periodic), Dialnet, EBSCO-FUENTE ACADEMICA PREMIER, Ulrichs, Access to Research Program for Health (Hinari), Latindex, in the Mexican Index of Latin American Biomedical Journals (Imbiomed) and the National Index of Colombian Scientific and Technological Serial Publications of Colsciences (Publindex) with a C category.
The reproduction of the articles published in the journal must be subject to compliance with the established Creative Commons license. The journal assumes no responsibility for the views expressed by the authors; likewise, no propaganda will be published and the mention of names of equipment, medicines and other materials does not imply recommendation for their use.
In 2025, Médicas UIS will be a point of reference at the national and international level as an excellent means of dissemination of scientific production and will be indexed in databases such as Scopus, Redalyc, Doaj and in international indices that guarantee the high scientific quality and editorial certified by Publindex (Colciencias). Médicas UIS will be a reference point for the creation of new student journals at the national level.
