Abstract

In the eighties, a process of socioeconomic instability starts in Costa Rica, mainly due to international oil problems at the end of the seventies. The poverty increased and there was a social discontent towards those who lead the politic and religious power. The arrival of North American evangelical missions coming increased, their work started mainly in the lower classes. His strong fundamentalism generated a new intervention of conservatism, therefore, the obstruction of sexual and reproductive rights. This article presents this religious process with the culmination of a summary of an interview with an LGTBI leader about the problems that the legality of sexual rights has had.
