Abstract

In recent years, R has become an indispensable tool for data analysis in many areas of basic and applied science and industry. Instead of learning multiple tools, students can use a single environment for a wide range of data analysis methods. More than a programming language, R offers new avenues for teaching statistics, because data analysis problems can be developed step-by-step and analyzed in a transparent and reproducible way, e.g. using R Markdown. This allows interactive and problem-oriented learning, combining theory and practice.
