Abstract
This monograph reflects on the faults of the undergraduate students at the Industrial University of Santander in the dominion of a basic skill such as writing. The first chapter approaches writing like a skill, its utility, the global context and the point of view of the professors of the institution on a problem that generates evident incapacities in the students. These inabilities specifically arise when facing the written production required in academia to extrapolate the knowledge which they acquire. The implementation of mechanisms on the part of the Industrial University of Santander to take care of this problem from a departmental level reveal the necessity to design a non-fragmented strategy that allows the development of the capacity to write texts in the undergraduate students of the alma mater. The second chapter of the monograph focuses on writing as a strategy; this is how writing must be considered at the university level, from a psychological, cultural and political point of view. The third chapter welcomes the proposal in itself: the strategy designed to develop the capacity to write texts in undergraduate students of the Industrial University of Santander, from the creation of a new Class that has been denominated “Skribi”, a word taken from Esperanto. This denomination was chosen from an international language, not only because of the desired impact on the Class, but also because of its meaning; translated to Spanish, Skribi means ‘to write’. In this way, the proposal should have a global air that is exemplified with the development of one of its sessions.
