Resumo
Los quistes mesentéricos son tumores intraabdominales raros que se estima que ocurren en aproximadamente 1 de cada 250 000 hospitalizaciones en adultos. Por lo general, estos quistes tienen un diámetro de 10 cm y suelen causar síntomas secundarios al efecto de masa que generan. Se presenta un caso clínico de una mujer adulta que acude a urgencias debido a dolor abdominal generalizado asociado a ausencia de deposiciones, emesis e hiporexia por lo que se realizó un estudio tomográfico que evidenciaba una compresión extrínseca del íleon distal sospechosa de un quiste ovárico con indicación de manejo quirúrgico. Lo que destaca en este caso es el tamaño del quiste, que fue documentado con medidas de 19.5x17x11cm y un peso de 20.15kg. Esto representa una presentación atípica y plantea un desafío tanto en el diagnóstico, como en las habilidades quirúrgicas necesarias para su resección.
