Abstract
Introduction: personality styles tend to be decisive in the choice of a profession or discipline, however this does not mean that these are not seen as permeated by the way the subject is facing the determining conditions of their environment. Objective: To determine the relationship between styles of Personality and Coping Strategies in psychology students from a Colombian university, from the Inventory of Personality Styles MIPS and Coping Strategies Scale Amendment to EEC- M. Materials and methods: It worked with a non-experimental descriptive correlational design with a sample of 120 participants (85 women and 35 men). Results: It found that the characteristic personality styles in women are feeling, systematization, complacency and discontent; while men are the adequacy, intuition, thinking, and withdrawal discrepancy. Regarding coping strategies, women are characterized by strategies of social support and positive reappraisal men. Conclusions: The relationship between personality styles and coping styles evidence that expansion , modification , individuality, extraversion , thinking, systematization , sociability and decision are often related to coping strategies such as problem solving , positive reappraisal , autonomy and social support.
