Resumen

Introducción: el estiramiento aumenta el arco de movimiento. Las técnicas de facilitación han demostrado su efectividad, sin embargo, no está claro el tiempo a usarse para tal fin. Objetivo: estimar la eficacia de los diferentes tiempos de aplicación de la técnica de facilitación neuromuscular propioceptiva, sostener-relajar, sobre los rangos de movilidad de rodilla en adultos jóvenes sanos. Metodología: ensayo clínico controlado aleatorizado, doble ciego, en el que participaron 34 adultos jóvenes, con edad entre 20 y 37 años. La evaluación de la flexibilidad de la rodilla se realizó bilateralmente usando como punto de referencia el ángulo poplíteo a través de videografía, usando el software Kinovea. Seguidamente, los sujetos fueron aleatorizados y asignados a 3 grupos de intervención de estiramiento con la técnica sostener-relajar: el primero de 21 segundos, el segundo 15 segundos y el tercer grupo control. Para estimar la eficacia de la intervención se utilizó un modelo lineal generalizado (familia: normal, enlace: identidad). Resultados: en los grupos de intervención con tiempos de 21 segundos (grupo 1) y 15 segundos (grupo 2), los valores promedio y desviación estándar en la valoración inicial de la línea base y valoración final posterior a la intervención, evidencian la ganancia significativa del ángulo poplíteo bilateralmente tanto del grupo 1 como del grupo 2 en comparación con el grupo control. Conclusiones: la ejecución del protocolo de facilitación neuromuscular propioceptiva “sostener-relajar” con tiempos diferentes, mostró que el de 21 segundos no tiene mayor superioridad al de 15 segundos, pero son superiores al control
