Resumen
Introducción: se han investigado diferentes agentes y métodos alternativos para la desinfección en prótesis dentales contra las infecciones de Candida albicans, debido a que ciertas sustancias pueden afectar las propiedades fisicomecánicas de la resina base de la prótesis. Objetivo: describir la eficacia de los diferentes métodos de desinfección de prótesis totales contra Candida albicans. Metodología: dos revisores realizaron búsquedas en diferentes bases de datos. Se incluyeron estudios e intervenciones en métodos de desinfección de prótesis totales contra Candida albicans. La calidad de los artículos se evaluó con RoB-2. Resultados: se identificaron 12 artículos. El peróxido de alcalino, extracto de Salvia officinalis al 1,16 % y aerosol derivado alquiniloxi sintético de Lawsone mostraron efectos positivos en cuanto a la reducción de Candida albicans. El riesgo de sesgo fue bajo. Conclusiones: Las alternativas identificadas mostraron efectos anticandidales y antimicrobianos significativos, sin embargo, se necesitan más investigaciones que relacionen su efectividad y efectos adversos.
