Abstract
Patient-centered care ensures that during the care they receive, the patient's preferences and needs are respected and taken into consideration. To achieve this, collaboration and interaction between the patient, their family and the various healthcare institution staff is required throughout the different stages of care. The objective of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Individualized Care Scale, Patient version (ICS-Patient) in Spanish. A Methodological research in nursing was conducted. The sample of participants corresponded to 170 patients admitted to the hospitalization services of a university health service provider in the city of Bogotá. The Colombian version of ICS-Patient presented acceptability indices for face validity higher than 0,80 and satisfactory content validity indices per item in 91% of the items evaluated. The factor analysis of ICS-Patient revealed a 2-factor solution for part A and a 3-factor solution for part B that explained 56,90% and 60,40% of the variance respectively. The ICS-Patient presented acceptable values of internal consistency in each of its parts (Cronbach’s alpha coefficient Part A: 0,935 - Part B: 0,919). The Colombian version of the ICS-Paciente was found to be a valid and reliable instrument for assessing individualized nursing care received by hospitalized adult patients.
